Natural
Connection

As we investigated the CBD and its surrounding neighbourhoods, we also considered the natural spaces surrounding the Lismore CBD and how to connect them.

Browns Creek

We see an opportunity to return Brown’s Creek to a functional community-centred water system from its reduced role as stormwater transport. A naturalised creek will be a lively active and passive transport corridor, a community gathering place, a habitat for urban wildlife populations, as well as a highly functional piece of urban stormwater infrastructure.

Greenway

Beginning with Brown’s Creek, a greenway system is created to connect the CBD effectively to surrounding areas. It will include active transport (paths for bikes and pedestrians), water management and vegetation for habitat, shade and amenity. The extension of the regional rail trail becomes part of this network and also supports new opportunities for sustainable tourism enterprises.
