Exhibitions
A shopfront in downtown Lismore with an open-door policy, holding regular exhibitions and workshops. That's the Living Lab Northern Rivers. Professors, punters and on-lookers all warmly welcomed. Come see us. Or look out for our pop-up lab coming soon to all seven local government areas that make up the Northern Rivers.

Tracing the past, shaping the future
6 NOVEMBER 2024 - 6 FEBRUARY 2025
Exploring how Indigenous Knowledges can shape sustainable land management for tomorrow.
This exhibit examines how the physical environment has changed from pre-colonial times to the present day. We do this through the lens of plant communities, contrasting the environmental conditions shaped by the Country-centred worldview of the Bundjalung people with those shaped by the dominant Eurocentric, human-centred perspective of today.

Look Ahead: Ideas for a future Lismore
5 JUNE — 3 AUGUST 2024
Visit us and explore some future scenarios for Lismore’s CBD and adjacent flood-prone lands.
These scenarios are the result of a 6 month codesign process, directly informed by community ideas and worked on by a team of design experts. They focus on the Lismore CBD and adjacent flood-prone lands.
They are a work in progress. We’d love to hear from all interested communities in Lismore and Northern Rivers, to learn what works and what doesn’t.

Bring It On Home
20 OCTOBER — Autumn 2024
Bring It On Home is an invitation to everyone in the Northern Rivers to think about housing beyond their doorstep, to learn what we have around here and, more importantly, what's missing. There are some excellent housing projects exploring the ways we may forge a path forward, and we speculate on a few local sites to see how the community feels about the potential of these new approaches. Join us in imagining a thriving tomorrow with housing that's more than just shelter, but diverse and responsive.

Working with nature: flood resilient landscapes
MARCH—JULY 2023
The floods of 2022 took many things away from us. They also brought new opportunities. One such opportunity is the chance to rethink how we manage our landscape to mitigate the natural flooding events that have always been a part of the Northern Rivers.
Working with nature provides an opportunity to learn about the types of strategies we can consider. It showcases some local and international projects where communities have worked with nature to enjoy the bounty of their rivers, while at the same time reducing the damage they can cause.
